Call for Symphony plug-ins developers Team Blog

There are several plug-in examples in Symphony toolkit and on the web site. We will continue publish more plug-in examples. We hope more developers will contribute to Symphony by building plug-ins for it as well as for Notes and Sametime.

Lotus Symphony Crowned Office Productivity Software Product of the Year by Datamation Magazine for 2008 News

Datamation magazine just released the winners in their Product of the Year contest for 2008.

Lotus Symphony won in the Office Productivity Software category beating out other nominees Microsoft Office, OpenOffice 2.3.1 and Think Free Office.

The Beta 4 release adds many functions requested by the community including the ability to add new pages from an existing presentation into your current one. We've had great early feedback on the continued progress we have been making as well as the speed in which we are delivering the new functions.

We have updated our Beta 3 release with full language support that includes dictionaries and templates in addition to the user interface. You can now enjoy Lotus Symphony in your language of choice.

The Beta 2 release is about 3 weeks away and we have made some significant progress in many areas. We have simplified the installation process by adopting a new format that enables a single click install. No need to find files after downloading, you simply click on the file you downloaded and the install will begin. We've also adopted a new single icon view to launch Symphony. We've received very valuable community feedback about performance and installation issues with the current Beta release of Symphony. In response to this, the lab has been focusing on these issues for beta 2 (to be honest we started even before Beta 1 was posted !). In some early testing of the Beta 2 code we are seeing dramatic improvements in the areas of start up, loading .ppt presentations and improved response times when opening and saving documents in other formats.
