FAQs about Lotus Symphony Presentations

Can I copy a page from Microsoft Powerpoint to Lotus Symphony Presentations?

In this release, it is not possible to copy a page from Microsoft® Powerpoint to Lotus Symphony Presentations simply by copying the Powerpoint page, and then pasting it into a Lotus presentation. But you can use the following workaround to achieve the same effect:

  1. Open the Powerpoint document in Lotus Symphony Presentations and switch to Page Sorter View by choosing View > Page > Page Sorter View or by using the list box on the right bottom of the navigator bar.
  2. Select the page(s), and right-click Copy.
  3. Switch the target Lotus Symphony Presentations document to Page Sorter View.
  4. Put focus on the page before or after where the copied page(s) need to be placed and click Paste.

To work with multimedia content:

  1. Open your presentation.
  2. Click Presentation > Screen Show Settings.
  3. On the Screen Show page, click Mouse pointer visible in the Options field and then click OK.
  4. If the clips are in a file format that is recognized by the file system, then this method works. Because Lotus Symphony does not support embedding the movie files, you must link to the files. Note: The person who is presenting must detach the clip files into the same folder structure that you create in the hyperlink.
    • Store the clip files in the same directory as your presentation.
    • Create a link to the clip. Click Create > Hyperlink.
    • Click Document in the left pane.
    • Click the Path field to browse for the clip file. Find your file, then click Open.
    • Give the Hyperlink some text, a name and description.
    • Click Apply and then Close.
  5. Send the clip files and Open Document File to your colleagues. Recipients must detach the files into the same folder structure and must ensure that the mouse pointer is visible as described in step 3. Recipients should check to see if the multimedia clips work.
